The Secret Life of Bees

I loved the book... now, the movie is out. At least it opened this weekend in the U.S. I haven't seen it yet. I'm trying to decide whether the PG-13 rating is okay for my 12-year-old or not. Probably not. Most movies with the PG-13 rating are really okay for those 18 and older... not 13. So, if you see the movie, let me know what you think. I, for one, can't wait to see it!

I have justed looked at the trailer for this film and by what I saw I think your 12 year old would be mature enough to see it.
It hasn't been released yet in Australia....bummer, but I am 'keeping an eye out' for it....what a strange expression!
Maybe I will just have to read the book first, which is always more satisfying normally.
Weekend over, isn't time flying!
Take care
Peggy
PS Love your bees graphic!

First of all, I fell in love with the music you have here, when I came to boomark the page, suddenyly this marvelous sound and lyrics came straight to my heart (as usual, when you are involved!)
I have to say: I'm not particularly keen on following the censorships guidelines.
Sarita has been allowed since early in life to watch stuff that most British parents wont lead their children into....but with me, having a talk about what we see, and with the kind of life that we have lead, the travelling, the lack of a lot of things and the fight for survival, it has only taught her good stuff in life...
If you fear that it may be not suitable, why is that? in which sense? violence wise? sex wise?
You are intelligent, you are a highly cultured...just sit and have a chat with her before and after...
I have to admit: I have to yet read the book.

Will come back with more time to read more of your blog!!!

Thank you both for visiting. Peggy, I do recommend the book (as you know).... It's a great read and doesn't take long to finish. I'm with you about the movie trailer. It looks okay, but then the trailers are always approved for audiences of all ages I believe. MrsPeel, I must admit that I am a bit of a prude. I don't mind violence so much as I do the sexual content that seems so prevalent in both television and film. I believe sex is targeted to more young people today than ever before, and I'm not of the opinion that it's a good thing. Why not enjoy childhood a little longer?

I'm glad you enjoyed the music. I would like to mix up the order a bit, but I can't seem to log back in to my playlist! There are so many passwords and usernames to remember, I'm afraid I let that one slip before I could write it down. To top it off, the request for a new password won't even get to me!!

Glad you visited our googleblog world, MrsPeel! It was such a happy surprise to see that you had visited!

Hey, I haven't read the book yet, but perhaps it'll be next on my list... I've been reading Jodi Piccoult like crazy, but have a hard time putting them down! It'll be a nice change. Let me know what you decide.
