Packed and Ready to Go

it was my daughter's first day of school yesterday
can you see the excitement on her face?

dressed in her new uniform
with her hair just so....

she was excited
she's a great student
but y'know what?

I think she was most excited
about seeing so many of her friends
and that makes me smile
because without them
school would just be
textbooks and assignments
and cafeteria food

but with friends
it's more like a gathering
where smiles and laughter
are the commas and exclamation points
that punctuate each day

I hope she has an exceptionally good year!

How fun. I love the first day of school. We still have a full week before the kids come.

Beautiful photo....as always!

When our long Christmas holidays were coming to an end, I could hardly wait for school to start up again. I missed my friends so much.

I wasn't a great student BUT I was a great friend!

Hope Hannah has an exceptional year as well.

Love

I can hear the conversation now... "just one more photo sweetie"... "but mum, you said that 15 photos ago!"

Hope her first day was super!

I LOVE this post. I take pictures like this each year, too. Not only of my daughter, but of my husband and I. We love our back-to-school pictures. Just because we're the teachers, it's still the first day of school. Yes? Our first day is tomorrow. Hoot HOOT!

We start tomorrow! I've got a daughter entering 9th grade (new school building this year!) and a 4th grader who is looking forward to seeing her friends again too.
I'll post our first day of school pics tomorrow.
Good luck to you at school! Your path to teaching sounds like such a better option! Very neat program!
Make your daughter call you Mrs. whatever and not Mom! My mom was one of my teachers and I had to call her Mrs. Johnson.
