Drumroll, please.... and my word for 2014

She's done, this girl. I've been working on her for quite a while and finally, over Christmas break, put my paint brushes down and declared her finished. I think she's one of my favorites so far, and she certainly represents how I was feeling in 2013. Emotional at times as my daughter crept closer and closer to 18. Worried. Anxious. Yet full of love, so much love sometimes that it hurt. It really did seem like I was wearing my heart on my sleeve. My moods and emotions lying open to the world.

Which leads me to this... my word for 2014. "Let go." I considered several words before accepting this one as the word I need for the year. I need to be able to let go when my daughter heads off to college in 2014. I need to let go of the stuff that is cluttering up my life, my home, my mind. I need to let go of a few pounds I've packed on over the past ten years. Believe me, 'let go' is something I needed to hear, and it's something I need to do.

I'm not sure how it will manifest itself, but I'm willing to play along and see what happens with this whole letting go mindset.

So, have you chosen a word for 2014? I can't wait to hear from you!

Wonderful achievement Roban, so pleased this girl is your favourite so far.

Displaying your feeling openly for all to see and not bottling things up is certainly an authentic way to live.

"Let go" is a fantastic word/s for 2014. I will probably borrow it from time to time during the year!

And so the journey begins.....

Wonderful! Letting go is tough...I know this from the past 6 months of holding on. I finally let go. There is much peace in letting go. I know this year will be fabulous...I know it! So glad to continue the tradition of choosing words with such a special group of bloggers...xoxo

I'm still pondering my word. Oh, I do love your art, my friend.

Hello, dear friend.
I have a few wishes for you.
May 2014 bring you much joy.
May we all have peace in our homes,
laughter by our firesides,
time spent with family,
and contentment in our hearts.
Be well, my friend.

that was the word my hubby wanted me to use....LET GO or for god's sake...LET IT GO...so i love that it's yours and that you'll be dancing with it all year long.

ps...when your daughter grows her wings and leaves, it will be such a proud moment for you that missing her won't be as painful as you think....i promise.....xo

That would be a great word for me also. I've been playing Let It Go from frozen a bunch.

Good thing I did not choose "Let Go"
I would be "blowing it" within the first few days of 2014 (my son goes back to school on Friday). :-(

It's a great choice, Roban, and full of possibilities!

Wishing you all the most wonderful things in the New Year.

Great word - beautiful art!! I haven't ever picked a word - I'd say that my word for 2013 would have been similar to you - Surrender - I'm enjoying some of the fruit of that word, but I think there is more out there so I'm going to keep that word for 2014 - yep surrender, surrender.... surrender

Hi Roban, I love this girl! "let go" is a great word for 2014. I feel I'm passed the "let go" stage as my children are 21, 23 and 25 now...it's gotten easier! Although, there's times when the phone rings and I see it's them...my heart skips a beat just a bit because to me, they're still my babies and I tend to jump to "gosh, hope all is ok.."! My word for 2014 is "trust". I need to quit doing that when they call and "trust" that all is ok and they just called to say "hi mom"! I'm also needing to trust in the journey I'm on with my new husband, trust that clarity and inspiration will come my way, and well, just trust in the whole process of "me"! I'll need to get some of your "girl cards" to send to my daughter on occasion. She'll love them too!
